Clarivate Analytics has named Prof. Toshihiko Takemura (Research Institute for Applied Mechanics) and Prof. Chihaya Adachi (Faculty of Engineering) as 2018 Highly Cited Researchers and presented them with certificates honoring this recognition on April 23, 2019, at Kyushu University. This is the fifth consecutive year that Prof. Takemura has received this recognition for his citations in the field of Geosciences. Prof. Adachi’s selection was for the category of Cross-Field, a new category that identifies researchers with substantial influence across several fields.

The Highly Cited Researchers list is compiled annually by the global information services company Clarivate Analytics based on analysis of its own database for tracking trends in academic papers. In the most recently published list, published papers and citation data for the 11-year period from 2006 to 2016 were examined and researchers who have published at least a certain number of highly cited papers—papers with a very high impact that rank in the top 1% by citations for the field—were selected as “the World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds.”
