On Tuesday, February 20, 2007 the Republic of Korea¡¯s Consul General stationed in Fukuoka Mr. Kim Yong-Soo paid a courtesy visit to President Tisato Kajiyama prior to his returning to his home country. ? Since he took office in February 2004 until the present day, Consul General Mr. Kim has been positive about the educational and research activities performed by the university as a university open to Asia. He has been a great contributor in many ways to the organization of lectures given by the Republic of Korea¡¯s former Prime Minister Mr. Kim Jong-Pil, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Mr. Ra Jong-Yil, and former Prime Minister Lee Hae-Chan, as well as to academic and educational exchanges between the university and the Republic of Korea. ? In September 2006, the Consul General was awarded a PhD from the University for his dissertation on agriculture and rice.
