A live two-way broadcast was conducted on Thursday, March 2, 2009, connecting Kyushu University with astronaut Koichi Wakata, a Kyushu University graduate who was staying aboard the International Space Station (ISS) after leaving Earth on the USA space shuttle Discovery, which launched from NASA¡¯s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. ? During the live two-way broadcast, Mr. Wakata sent messages to Kyushu University students, saying, ¡°Thank you for gathering. I hope that some of you will be involved in space activities in the future. Please work hard toward your dreams and goals. I am looking forward to talking about what I experienced with you when I go back to Fukuoka after this mission.¡±
